Sorter Tasks & Duties (What You'll Do)

Receive incoming mail and sort mail into bins & trays for processing
Review dates, addresses, barcodes, and other postage information for all outbound mail
Inspect mail for tampering, damage, and suspicious contents
Sort and categorize mail by hand and operate mail processing machines and postage meters
Prepare mail for distribution through correct categorization and labeling
Redirect mislabeled or illegible mail for returns
Scan packages for tracking and logging, and update mail database records
Ensure that the mail processing machines and equipment are maintained
Report any issues with the mail or machinery to the supervisor
Monitor mailroom inventory levels and inform supervisors when supplies are low

Sorter Shift Info

Night Shift, 12:00 am to 08:00 am
Monday - Friday

Sorter Qualifications (Requirements / Skills)

Previous mailroom experience preferred
Proficiency with mail processing machines and equipment such as mail meters
Basic computer skills and knowledge of programs such as MS Word and Excel
Organizational and communication skills
Attention to detail
Manual dexterity
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods of time, operate mail processing machinery, and lift heavy mail bins
Experience using hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts is a plus
Dependable and hardworking
Sorter experience preferred
Able to pass a background check
Able to work in the US
